Saulėti Masažai is a project aimed to create a website and eCommerce platform for a Kaunas-based massage studio specializing in Japanese Kobido, full-body, localized, and pregnancy massages.

Prior to the project, the masseuse operated via word-of-mouth and provided in-home services. However, with the expansion of the business and the opening of a dedicated studio, the need for a centralized platform with essential information and an integrated booking system arose.

Overview

01   Problem

The studio faced challenges transitioning from a word-of-mouth client acquisition, while avoiding costly third-party booking platforms that hindered competitive pricing. There was a need for an affordable, user-friendly website that centralized service information, streamlined appointment bookings and gift coupon sales, and reinforced the brand’s identity online.

02   Solution

A custom website designed as a centralized information hub, sales platform and tool for online discoverability as well as brand positioning across web and mobile. It features a cost-effective, standalone eCommerce module, an easy-to-use CMS for managing content and operations and a cohesive visual identity aligned with the studio’s wellness-focused brand.

03   Impact

Enhanced the studio’s online presence and brand credibility, reduced operating costs and laid a strong foundation for future eCommerce expansion with minimal adjustments.

04   Deliverables

Complete digital solution including brand identity design (logo, graphics, color palette, photo editing), fully responsive website for web and mobile, integrated CMS, scalable eCommerce module, UX/UI design and copywriting.

Web solution

01  Home page

The main page sets the tone for the studio’s positioning and tells its story, offering an overview of services, a quick pricing snapshot, and clear CTA for massage bookings and gift coupons. It also provides essential information about the studio and links to the online store.

02  Product page

The store and product pages display descriptions and pricing for available massage packages and gift coupons. While booking is currently disabled, a reservation call-to-action directs users to a contact form for inquiries.

Process

Timeline: 6 weeks including UX UI design, graphic design and Web development

01   Discovery

Defining goals and requirements through collaboration with the business owner. Market research was conducted to analyze industry trends and competitor solutions. Wireframes and user flows were created, and initial concepts were reviewed and approved by the client.

02   Definition

A high-fidelity prototype was developed to showcase the website’s design and functionality. Although the client had not yet provided content or images, the approved design direction allowed development to proceed.

03   Development

The website was built with a CMS and eCommerce module. Midway through development, the client provided content, leading to design revisions. Due to unresolved payment system formalities, the decision was made to withhold the eCommerce module, requiring further design adjustments.

04   Delivery

Usability testing was conducted, and final revisions were made based on client feedback. The website was launched as an informational platform, with the eCommerce module postponed for potential future implementation.

Constraints

Technical Hurdles: Developing a custom booking system required additional complexity in appointment scheduling and payment processing.

Business Decisions: The client’s delay in finalizing payment formalities led to a shift in project scope.

Competitive Industry: Standing out among competitors while maintaining an authentic wellness experience.

Iteration

Despite the website being technically ready for an integrated booking system, it was decided to postpone its launch due to unresolved payment processing formalities. As a result, the eCommerce module was transformed into a massage catalog, and the website now mostly serves as a supporting informational resource, as booking and client acquisition continue to primarily take place via social media.

Future iterations may involve:

  • Implementing time-slot-based booking once the business is prepared for online payments.
  • Enhancing the gift coupon purchasing process with automated tracking and unique identification codes.
  • Re-evaluating the cost-effectiveness of the eCommerce module versus third-party booking platforms.
